| Description | Expertise in issues pertaining to separation and divorce, child welfare and youth in conflict with the law, assessments and family mediation Assessments Completed by court order under three pieces of legislation, the Youth Criminal Justice Act, Child and Family Services Act and the Children's Law Reform Act, assessments include child welfare, custody and access, and, youth in conflict with the law assessments Family Mediation and Information Services Focuses on family mediation related to separation and divorce issues, both at court and at DFCC offices * walk-in information services are available at the Durham Family Court in Oshawa to support individuals in need of legal and non-legal information about issues related to separation, divorce and other areas of family law Child Welfare Mediation Child welfare mediation as an alternative dispute resolution Community Support Team and Intensive Support and Supervision Individual counselling for youth in conflict with the law and their families upon referral by Probation Services or the Youth Court Collaborative Day Treatment Program Therapeutic learning experience for youth with difficulty coping in the main stream educational system Durham Youth Gang Strategy Individual counselling for youth who are involved with gangs or may be at risk of involvement with gang activity who are being released from custody Violence Prevention Program Interactive school workshops for grades 7 through 12 on a variety of topics including internet safety, gang awareness, dating violence, healthy relationships, anti-bullying, anti-racism, conflict resolution, self esteem, sexual harassment, anger management, anti-homophobia Referral Courses Family Mediation (Self referral) * Community Support Team (Probation) * Intensive Support Team (Youth Court) * Assessments (by Court order) * Collaborative Day Treatment (Probation, Children's Aid, Other) * Child Protection Mediation (Children's Aid, Schools) | |||
