Provide virtual childcare support for mothers who have been diagnosed with cancer, for those requiring palliative care and for families requiring additional relief during the bereavement period * engage children in homework-aid and/or age-appropriate activities to help reduce any stress or anxiety they may be experiencing due to their mom’s illness or death * by meeting weekly, building trust, and having fun, our Angels help mothers gain the confidence and peace of mind to rest or attend appointments, knowing their children are cared for and supported by knowledgeable and compassionate volunteers.
Provide fun, educational, creative, and safe experiences for the children * minimum six-month commitment to ensure support during the duration of a mom’s cancer treatment and recovery * two hours of childcare service per week to the same family.

Join the FOOTPRINTS Steering Committee * the steering committee meets once per month for 2 hours at either Dunbarton-Fairport United Church in Pickering or St. Mark’s United Church in Whitby (meetings are currently on Zoom due to COVID19) * depending on responsibilities assigned, members should expect 1-3 hours of preparation and/or sub-committee meetings * participate in awareness events as needed to represent the organization
Seeking candidates who are excellent communicators and forward strategic thinkers that enjoy collaborative teamwork * and have experience/skill sets in the following categories: knowledge of the Autism community and/or lived experience, Human Resources, Finance, Legal and or Fund Development

Provide free, specialized in-home relief childcare support for mothers with cancer, for those requiring palliative care and for families requiring additional relief during the bereavement period * lessen the impact of cancer on families by engaging children in enjoyable, age-appropriate activities to help reduce any stress or anxiety they may be experiencing due to their mom’s illness or death * weekly visits, building trust, and having fun, Nanny Angels help mothers gain the confidence and peace of mind to rest or attend appointments, knowing their children are cared for and supported by knowledgeable and compassionate volunteers
Provide fun, educational, creative, and safe experiences for the children * four hours of childcare service per week to the same family with a minimum of six-month commitment.
Volunteers are matched with families based on compatibility and location within the Greater Toronto Area boundaries * kindly note, the role is not that of a babysitter, housekeeper, or personal assistant – a Nanny Angel’s primary focus is engaging and supporting the children.
COVID-19 considerations: Personal Protective equipment, sanitizer and sanitizing wipes provided. All volunteers are required to wear a mask at all times, observe social distancing and go through a screening questionnaire prior to their volunteering shift. Assist students in grades 2-3 improve French reading and comprehension skills * offer updates to library staff on progress of children * occasional interaction with parents * work with library staff to develop program to ensure the needs of enrolled children are being met
