Whitby· Interacting with the public while providing great customer service. Merchandising and staging of furniture donations.
· eCommerce: product research for price and key selling points, measure dimensions, photography, and minor touch up of items to support our new online platform.
· Tasks may include customer service, product display, pricing, assembly, and repair
- Due to the physical nature of some of the tasks required, ReStore volunteers may be asked to lift heavy objects (bathroom fixtures, windows, doors, etc.)
- Assembling furniture and some restoration of various donations.
- Able to lift 10-20 pounds and be on your feet for several hours at a time.
- Volunteers are required to wear CSA approved green label safety shoes, some at store to borrow for volunteer shift
· Come with a willingness to learn from experienced volunteers and staff and to work as part of a team. A positive attitude, enthusiasm, flexibility, and a sense of humour is always key! Tasks are not always glamorous, so be prepared to do a variety of things.
GOAL for this position:
As a Gaming Centre Volunteer, you would greatly assist with revenue generation in support of the animals in our care.
Although this role does not directly work with the animals, or at one of our animal centres; it is one of the most incredibly gratifying roles we have, as it impacts our life-saving work in our local community.
Every shift you complete, a donation is made to the animals. The ripple effect of this role extends far beyond the immediate results of your efforts but has a lasting impact on the care of animals, the community we support and the programs we offer.
Volunteer Role:
- Greet and thank the customers of the Gaming Centre.
- Answer any inquiries regarding the Gaming Centre and our organization.
- Light cleaning.
- Promote how customer contributions assist our furry friends in need, in their local community.
Supervision and Support
As a volunteer, you will be supported by the Development Department staff. This staff partner will provide you with training for your specific role, your schedule, and any required feedback or updates. The Volunteer Development Team will always be available to offer support and guidance. You will also have direct access to our online community, where you can find organizational updates, posted information and contact information for your staff partners.
A Volunteer will be responsible to carry out duties which reflect their strengths and that they enjoy at the Mission Thrift Store. A Volunteer may be asked to load goods, sort goods, display goods, price goods, clean goods, repair goods, serve as a cashier, assist customers, and perform maintenance on the premises.
Assist with tasks that are part of a special event at WindReach Farm * greet guests, help visitors to park, registration * handle cash * oversee craft area * animal assistance * food preparation & serving * assist where needed
Assist nurse with administrative support at Foot Care Clinic * Guide clients through foot care appointment
As a member of a customer-focused volunteer team, you will welcome patients and visitors to Lakeridge Health, provide them with appropriate and required assistance to find their destination within the hospital, and learn about the services and departments in the hospital. Please note this is role requires standing and walking.
In this role, you will: work with other volunteers to support Auxiliary fundraising goals through customer service and sales from the various operations roles are available in gift shops, cafes, and second-hand clothing stores * roles available at Ajax Pickering (hospital and long term care facility), Bowmanville (in-hospital and off-site), Oshawa, Port Perry (in-hospital and off-site)
Providing a friendly atmosphere, fulfilling drink and snack orders from families, visitors and staff. Maintain clean operations of café, ensure inventory is stocked, operate and take payment via point-of-sale device.
The role provides a warm welcome to clients, families and visitors. Answers general questions, provides wayfinding, may assist with answering calls, and administrative/clerical tasks.
