Duties

Position Summary:

As a Volunteer Food Delivery Driver, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that nutritious meals reach those in need within our community. This position involves safely delivering pre-packaged meals from our head office to our other shelter.

Key Responsibilities:

·       Pick up pre-packaged food from the Ajax location and safely deliver them to the Whitby location according to the delivery schedule

·       Communicate with the Intern, Casual Staff Supervisor to confirm delivery times and drop off zones

·       Interact with clients and staff in a friendly, respectful manner, providing a positive and compassionate presence

·       Maintain confidentiality and respect clients' privacy at all times

·       Track mileage and odometer readings, noting on the mileage form and report to the Intern, Casual Staff Supervisor at the end of each month

·       Follow all safety and health guidelines, including COVID-19 protocols, if applicable.

· Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record 
· Access to a reliable vehicle with up-to-date insurance 
· Strong communication skills and a friendly, compassionate demeanor 
· Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and follow a delivery route 
· Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds 
· Experience in a customer service or community-focused role is a plus 
· Current Vulnerable Sectors Check
Commitment Length Long Term (Minimum of 6 months)
Interaction Level Small Group - Only communicating to the kitchen staff when picking up/dropping off food
Minimum Hours 14 / Week
Dates and Times Monday: (12pm-1:00pm & 4:00pm-5:00pm) 
Tuesday: (12pm-1:00pm & 4:00pm-5:00pm) 
Wednesday: (12pm-1:00pm & 4:00pm-5:00pm) 
Thursday: (12pm-1:00pm & 4:00pm-5:00pm) 
Friday: (12pm-1:00pm & 4:00pm-5:00pm) 
Saturday: (12pm-1:00pm & 4:00pm-5:00pm) 
Sunday: (12pm-1:00pm & 4:00pm-5:00pm) 
 
Hours may fluctuate due to change in service delivery. Flexible hours. Shifts generally take place on weekday afternoons, evenings, and weekend availability
