The Canadian Cancer Society is recruiting Event Day volunteers for the CIBC Run for the Cure taking place in Oshawa on October 6th. Volunteer roles include set up, registration, route marshal, green team, and much more! You can choose a specific role and shift(s) based on your availability. The CIBC Run for the Cure is a 5k or 1k walk or run. It is the largest single-day, volunteer-led event in Canada in support of the breast cancer cause. When you volunteer at the Canadian Cancer Society you have real impact. It takes all of us to take on cancer.

GOAL for this position:
As a Gaming Centre Volunteer, you would greatly assist with revenue generation in support of the animals in our care.
Although this role does not directly work with the animals, or at one of our animal centres; it is one of the most incredibly gratifying roles we have, as it impacts our life-saving work in our local community.
Every shift you complete, a donation is made to the animals. The ripple effect of this role extends far beyond the immediate results of your efforts but has a lasting impact on the care of animals, the community we support and the programs we offer.
Volunteer Role:
- Greet and thank the customers of the Gaming Centre.
- Answer any inquiries regarding the Gaming Centre and our organization.
- Light cleaning.
- Promote how customer contributions assist our furry friends in need, in their local community.
Supervision and Support
As a volunteer, you will be supported by the Development Department staff. This staff partner will provide you with training for your specific role, your schedule, and any required feedback or updates. The Volunteer Development Team will always be available to offer support and guidance. You will also have direct access to our online community, where you can find organizational updates, posted information and contact information for your staff partners.
The Mission to Seafarers Southern Ontario is looking for volunteers to support the seafarers when they arrive in our ports here in Oshawa. Volunteers are needed to support seafarers in our centre by ensuring that we are open, coffee and snacks are available, assist seafarers in their needs and be a friendly face to those that are far from home. We are also looking for volunteers to visit the ships to connect with the seafarers there and ensure that their welfare and needs are looked after.

Conduct guided tours for visitor groups of all ages, sharing stories and insights about our exhibits.

Conduct gallery interpretation and interact with visitors during public events, including March Break and Doors Open Oshawa. Engage with visitors, provide interpretation on the collection, and answer questions to enhance their museum experience.

Interact with tour groups, school classes, car clubs, and individual visitors, tailoring your communication to suit different age ranges and backgrounds.

Be on-call to be onsite at minimum 2 hours a week, spending time circulating in the galleries when not giving tours. Work with museum staff to ensure a welcoming and informative environment for all visitors.
Provide excellent customer service to all Whitby Courthouse Theatre patrons in roles such as ushering, concessions sales, ticket scanners, etc.
