We are looking for volunteers ages 15 - 30 to engage them in volunteer placements. There are ongoing programs like Digital Marketing and Advertising, Community Events to provide support, Technology program for Seniors, Food Pantry Program, Administration work. Talent and Skills Development workshops are provided along with training sessions to gain experience.
Assist with tasks that are part of a special event at WindReach Farm * greet guests, help visitors to park, registration * handle cash * oversee craft area * animal assistance * food preparation & serving * assist where needed
Complete health screening with clients, families and visitors to the centre * provide a friendly welcome and provide answers to general inquiries in a courteous professional manner
Welcoming customers at the entrance * talking to people about what Girls Inc. does * assisting the staff with logistics
Girls Inc. of Durham has the opportunity to be supported by the Ontario Charitable Gaming Association and the Ontario Lottery Association. This is one of the most effective and useful volunteer positions at Girls Inc. as bingo hall funds are used to sponsor at-risk girls to attend life changing camps for free * ONE bingo shift, raises enough funds to send TWO girls to camp for a week * we need dedicated volunteers for this position
In this role, you will: support patients and families waiting in the Emergency Department * answer questions * provide activities and comfort items (colouring, word searches, teddy bears, etc) * call transportation (taxi) * assist with wayfinding, directions, or escorting patients to different departments.
In this active volunteer role, you will: interact with patients and visitors providing them with appropriate and/or required assistance to find their destination within the hospital * deliver essential personal items to units and assist with managing wheelchairs.
In this role, you will: work with other volunteers to support Auxiliary fundraising goals through customer service and sales from the various operations roles are available in gift shops, cafes, and second-hand clothing stores * roles available at Ajax Pickering (hospital and long term care facility), Bowmanville (in-hospital and off-site), Oshawa, Port Perry (in-hospital and off-site)
Attend assigned charity bingo sessions on our behalf * 2 hour bingo sessions that work with your schedule * duties involved include light cleaning and providing customer service
Optional Roles: Optional roles are those with operator agreement and at the discretion of the volunteer (not mandated but greatly appreciated) * for food handling and clean‐up, proper local protocols are established (e.g., hand washing /disinfectant after certain tasks) * assist with delivery of food and non‐alcoholic beverages * offer water to customers * return food trays to kitchen area * assist with clean‐up (used bingo paper, etc.) this frees up staff to sell * assist with callback’s of bingo winners (if approved by operator).
