Volunteer Board Members Welcome
FOOTPRINTS 4 Autism is a nonprofit registered charity serving Durham Region. We offer respite and recreational programs for families with children and youth on the autism spectrum. We are currently growing from a Steering Committee to a Governance Board, and looking for new members to join our Board.
We need Board members in the following areas: Marketing, Communications, Fund Development, Finance and Secretary. For a 2-year commitment.
Board meetings are held once-a-month in Whitby. We have a virtual option as well. Members can choose roles in Marketing & Communications, Fund Development, Finance, Human Resources and ad-hoc Project sub-committees.
These roles can be rewarding to anyone from lawyers, insurance agents, marketing and advertising to accountants, fundraisers, administration, and community minded people, to name a few.

We are looking for volunteers ages 15 - 30 to engage them in volunteer placements. There are ongoing programs like Digital Marketing and Advertising, Community Events to provide support, Technology program for Seniors, Food Pantry Program, Administration work. Talent and Skills Development workshops are provided along with training sessions to gain experience.
Manage the finances for the Carion Fenn Foundation * Perform internal audit as needed for the finances of the foundation * Record expenses, payments and other expenditures * Create and consolidate financial statements at the year-end (March 31st) * Manage the budget for the Carion Fenn Foundation * Keep track of charitable donations * Be prepared to explain the finances of the foundation as required *
Record payments, invoices and expenses * responsible for accounts and bank reconciliations * prepare financial internal reports * prepare HST and CRA remittances * prepare annual financial statements * maintain financial records, including books of account, necessary for the foundation * receive and keep track of receipts for expenses * issue income tax receipts for donations * maintain a receivable and payable list * record all transactions * prepare budget for grants * prepare annual budget * prepare annual financial statements * prepare information return for Revenue Canada * keep track of charitable donations and receipts and report annually to the CRA * attend monthly meetings in person or online when needed
Plan funding requirements * prepare budget submissions with Executive Director and Executive Committee * report financial transparency to community
In this role, you will: work with other volunteers to support Auxiliary fundraising goals through customer service and sales from the various operations roles are available in gift shops, cafes, and second-hand clothing stores * roles available at Ajax Pickering (hospital and long term care facility), Bowmanville (in-hospital and off-site), Oshawa, Port Perry (in-hospital and off-site)
AUTHORITY AND POWER: Directors may exercise the Corporation’s power on its behalf * the Corporation’s power is that which it may exercise under the Act, the Letters Patent and Supplementary Letters Patent.
STANDARD OF CARE: Each Director in exercising their duties, shall act honestly and in good faith with a view to the best interests of the Corporation, and shall exercise care, diligence and skill that a person with similar skills and knowledge of a Director would exercise in comparable circumstances.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS: The Board shall be responsible for the governance and the overall performance of the Corporation * the responsibilities of the Board shall include all things required of the Board pursuant to the Act and other applicable law, including without limitation to: comply with provision of applicable legislation and regulations and common law * appoint and supervise the Executive Director and delegate responsibility and appropriate authority to carry out the responsibilities while ensuring accountability to the board * support, direct, evaluate and if necessary terminate the Executive Director * assume responsibility for succession planning for the Executive Director and Board * ensure auditors are appointed annually by the members * examine and consider the report of the Auditors and the financial statements of the organization * establish and review the mission statement and the strategic plan * monitor risk, ensure implementation of systems to mitigate risk * ensure mechanisms are in place to provide high quality care to people with intellectual disabilities served by the organization
