Results is a nonprofit advocacy organization of passionate staff and volunteers committed to generating the political will to end extreme poverty in low- and middle-income countries. We focus our work on global health, access to quality education and economic opportunities. What does political will mean? We believe in mobilizing everyday people (our volunteers) to influence the Government of Canada. We direct our energy and efforts at government decision makers like party leaders, Members of Parliament and senators because they have the power to improve policies and make the monetary investments needed to end extreme poverty. We also raise awareness by writing letters to the editor (LTEs) and op-eds, using social media, fundraising and more. Oftentimes the first step is putting these issues on the radar — and keeping the pressure on. It might seem like a small step, but it all adds up into impact. commitment: 1 year minimum, 1-2 hours per week on average support structure: Volunteers (virtually) meet in local groups on a monthly basis and rely on their group leader(s) for guidance. FRANÇAIS Nous sommes un organisme de plaidoyer qui mobilise les gens du quotidien (nos bénévoles) pour générer la volonté politique pour mettre fin à l’extrême pauvreté dans les pays à faible et moyen revenu. Nous concentrons notre travail sur la santé mondiale, l’accès à une éducation de qualité et l’inclusion économique. Nous concentrons notre énergie et nos efforts à mobiliser les décideurs et décideuses politiques comme les chef.fe.s de partis, député.es, sénateurs et sénatrices, car ils et elles détiennent le pouvoir d’améliorer les politiques et de faire les investissements requis pour éradiquer l’extrême pauvreté. Nous faisons aussi de la sensibilisation en écrivant des lettres ouvertes aux journaux, en utilisant les médias sociaux, en collectant des fonds et bien plus. Souvent, la première étape est d’attirer l’attention sur ces enjeux et de les faire connaître — et de maintenir la pression. Position Summary: Art with a Heart Inc. is seeking individuals to join its Board of Directors. Board members play a crucial role in providing strategic guidance, governance oversight, and support for the organization's mission and activities. This volunteer position offers an opportunity to contribute to the growth and impact of an organization dedicated to using the Arts as a catalyst for positive change in peoples lives.

Key Responsibilities

Depending upon experience and interest, individuals could take on one or more of the following responsibilities:

• Strategic Leadership: Participate actively in strategic planning and decision-making processes to ensure the organization achieves its mission and goals.
• Governance Oversight: Provide fiduciary oversight and ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards.
• Fundraising and Advocacy: Support fundraising efforts and advocate for the organization's mission in the community.
• Networking and Relationship Building: Leverage personal and professional networks to create opportunities for collaboration and growth.
• Committee Involvement: Serve on board committees as needed, such as finance, governance, fundraising, or program committees.

Qualifications:

• Commitment to the mission and values of Art with a Heart Inc.
• Experience in nonprofit governance, leadership, or relevant fields (e.g., arts administration, social services, business management).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively and make informed decisions.
• Availability to attend board meetings, committee meetings, and special events as required.

• Assist with event planning, client support, data entry, fundraising activities, etc.

• Collaborate with staff and other volunteers to achieve project goals

• Attend and support community outreach programs or events

• Help with administrative tasks as needed (e.g., phone calls, emails, filing)

• Represent Terra Nova in a positive and professional manner

• Maintain confidentiality and respect the privacy of individuals and families served by the organization

• Participate in volunteer meetings, training, or orientation sessions as required
