The Whitby Housing Action Committee (WHAC) is seeking dedicated volunteers to help support the local affordable housing initiative led by Habitat for Humanity Greater Toronto Area in Whitby. 

WHAC is a volunteer-led committee focused on raising awareness, building community partnerships, and supporting fundraising efforts that help make affordable homeownership possible for local families. 

We are looking for individuals who want to contribute their professional skills and community passion to a meaningful local cause.  

We Are Seeking Experience In: 

  1. Corporate Engagement 

For individuals with experience in: 

  • Business relationship development  

  • Sponsorship outreach  

  • Donor stewardship  

  • Community partnerships  

  • Fundraising support 

 

  1. Event Planning 

For individuals with experience in: 

  • Fundraising events

For individuals with experience in:

For individuals with experience in:

  1. Volunteer Coordination 

For individuals with experience in: 

  • Scheduling

  • Onboarding support

What You Will Do
As a WHAC volunteer, you may: 

  • Attend committee meetings  

  • Support campaigns and events  

  • Build local relationships  

  • Promote community awareness  

  • Help strengthen volunteer involvement  

  • Contribute ideas that create local impact

Time Commitment
Estimated commitment: 3–10 hours per month 
This includes: 

  • Monthly committee meetings  

  • Project lead or support

Habitat for Humanity, Greater Toronto Area

·       Interacting with the public while providing great customer service. Merchandising and staging of furniture donations.

·       eCommerce: product research for price and key selling points, measure dimensions, photography, and minor touch up of items to support our new online platform.

·       Tasks may include customer service, product display, pricing, assembly, and repair

  • Due to the physical nature of some of the tasks required, ReStore volunteers may be asked to lift heavy objects (bathroom fixtures, windows, doors, etc.)
  • Assembling furniture and some restoration of various donations.
  • Able to lift 10-20 pounds and be on your feet for several hours at a time.
  • Volunteers are required to wear CSA approved green label safety shoes, some at store to borrow for volunteer shift

·       Come with a willingness to learn from experienced volunteers and staff and to work as part of a team. A positive attitude, enthusiasm, flexibility, and a sense of humour is always key! Tasks are not always glamorous, so be prepared to do a variety of things.
