Duties

The Board of Directors oversee Community Care Durham’s affairs within the framework of applicable laws and standards as they relate to Mission, Vision and Values, Leadership and Succession Planning, Risk and Quality Assurance and Community Connections.
 
The Board of Directors has the responsibility and authority to approve strategic planning and directives; budgets and purchases; CEO goals, performance management and compensation as well as the evaluation of their own performance, roles and responsibilities.
 
The board seeks skills and qualifications in the following areas:

  • Financial Management (Designation Required)
  • Legal Consultation
  • Specialty Skills/Knowledge

Candidates should have knowledge and understanding of the non-profit sector and be aware of the community supports services in Durham Region.

Clients Community Care Durham (CCD) is a multi-service registered charitable organization providing a broad range of community support services for adults and their caregivers who have needs related to aging, physical and/or mental health throughout Durham Region. We assist clients with services that support independence, health and quality of life and help clients to remain in their own homes – where they want to live.

Commitment Length Long Term - Four years ; Board Members are required to serve for a term of four years and may serve for two consecutive terms * a Board Member is eligible for re-election to the Board after one year of absence * active Board Members are not permitted to hold any additional volunteer positions with Community Care Durham
Interaction Level One-on-one ; Small Group
Dates and Times Board Members are required to attend monthly meetings that are two to four hours in length and participate on committees as requested
