Duties | Simcoe Hall, Board of Directors, Treasurer BACKGROUND Simcoe Hall Settlement House was established in 1935 by the Women’s Welfare League, in response to human and health conditions created by the Great Depression of the 1930’s. Over the 85-year history of Simcoe Hall, this non-profit organization has helped tens of thousands of at-risk individuals, living, and working in our community. Simcoe Hall currently offers the following: OUR MISSION AND VISION To provide wellness opportunities through our foodbank and programs that serve children, individuals and families who experience financial and social challenges. Our vision is to be part of a community that will allow children, individuals, and families to experience and lead healthy, meaningful, and socially responsible lives. SUMMARY Simcoe Hall is searching for an enthusiastic, driven individual with financial experience to join our volunteer Board of Directors. The Director will have oversight responsibilities for the maintenance of the agency’s financial records following legislation and GAP. This individual will work directly with the board, Executive Director, bookkeeper, and the agency’s auditor. The range of the agency’s operating budget is $800,000 - $1,000,000. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES · Ensure that effective financial measures, procedures, and controls are in place that are appropriate for the agency to comply and adhere to all regulatory requirements for non-profit organizations. Skills and competencies · Solid written, verbal, and listening communication skills with the ability to present to small groups. · Previous Board experience, preferably not-for-profit would be an asset. · Specific skills in governance, strategic planning, fundraising, internal policy development |

Dates and Times | Tuesday: Evening (3rd Tuesday of the month) TIME COMMITMENT · The position would require approx. 3 hrs per month for the monthly financial review including discussion with the bookkeeper. In addition, the monthly meeting requirement of 2hrs with 2-3 hrs prep time. Total 4-7 hrs. |
