Duties

Join the DFCC team in planning and delivering our Black Joy Holiday Market (BJHM) celebration and Annual General Meeting (AGM). Volunteers will help with event preparation, registration, guest assistance, setup and teardown, and capturing event highlights. This is a great opportunity to build event planning skills, work with a diverse community, and contribute to two meaningful and impactful events.

Roles & Responsibilities

Event Planning Support

  • Assist with brainstorming and developing event themes, activities, and schedules.
  • Help coordinate logistics, including booking venues, arranging seating, and setting up event spaces.
  • Source and liaise with vendors, performers, and guest speakers.

Registration & Guest Services

  • Assist with pre-event registration
  • Greet and check in attendees at the event.
  • Provide information and directions to guests during the event.

Event Day Support

  • Assist with setup and teardown of event spaces.
  • Support speakers and performers with timing and stage needs.
  • Serve refreshments, hand out programs, and guide attendees to seating.
  • Providing on-site support during events.
  • Organizing supplies and materials.
  • Attend event committee meetings.

Documentation & Follow-Up

  • Take photos and videos for DFCC archives and social media.
  • Help gather attendee feedback after the event.
  • Assist in compiling a post-event summary for the team.

Time Commitment

  • Pre-event planning: 1–4 hours per week (in-person or virtual meetings)
  • Event days: Full or half-day shifts available
  • Post-event wrap-up: 1–2 hours for debrief and follow-up tasks
